Jennifer Shircliff - Artist's Works
Jenny Shircliff has a BFA in drawing, an MA in painting, and a PhD in art history. While her earlier work was largely figurative and naturalistic, she now turns toward abstraction.
Shircliff’s landscapes do not depict any particular place. Instead, she abstracts parts of her own body, revealing the aesthetic effects of time on the human body – in the same way that time marks the earth – and connects the body to the larger natural world.
Her string theory series considers another approach to our world. Taken in large part from automatic drawings, these works give visual presence to the idea that our universe is made up of vibrating threads of energy that represent nature’s most fundamental aspects.
