Shawn Marshall - Artist's Works

My development as an artist has grown in tandem with my ability to mesh the physical experiences I have in the world with my own internal development and personal growth. My current work embodies the most authentic channeling of intuitive energy to create “landscapes” and “snapshots” of experiences and travels. More than a representation, the paintings symbolize my ongoing journey of self-discovery; of letting go of preconceived notions and self-imposed rules and/or judgments of how I and my work interpret and portray the world. Recently my work was described in the online publication Artebella as “a vivid and intriguing balance of abstract and representational, with a beautifully judged tension between an embrace of the highly developed impasto and the underlying landscape that lies beyond.”

I hold a Masters and Bachelor of Architecture from Cornell University and the University of Kentucky respectively. I have exhibited in Kentucky, Indiana, Ohio, Arizona, New York, and Illinois. Most recently my work was selected for The 27th Annual International Juried Exhbition at Viridian Artists Gallery in New York, NY in June 2016, and a collection of my work can be seen at the new PNC Bank Tower in Pittsburgh, PA and with University of Kentucky Healthcare.
