Finding Home - A PYRO Group Exhibition

PYRO gallery is pleased to announce its upcoming exhibition, “Finding Home,” curated by member artist Susie Harrison. This group show runs from March 28 to May 4 at the gallery’s home, 1006 E. Washington Street in Louisville, Kentucky.

Participating member artists, along with their invited guests, will reflect on their sense of home and what it means to find home within themselves. This exhibition is intended to serve as a visual inquiry centered on the spiritual and psychological aspects of one’s sense of place and what home might represent to each of us.

The curator hopes this experience will also shed light on the issues homeless people face. To that end, PYRO member and photographer C. J. Pressma is partnering with councilwoman Barbara Sexton Smith, who is a strong advocate for our area’s homeless, to create an installation based on firsthand accounts of individuals who live on our streets. The intent is to allow the voices of the homeless to be amplified.

On Sunday, March 31, an opening reception will be held from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m., followed by a panel discussion from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m. addressing the idea of finding one’s home. PYRO has reached out to those Louisville leaders who support the homeless for this panel discussion in order to raise awareness and explore ways we can make a positive impact on our local homeless situation. Please join us for the reception and this special panel discussion.
