Artist Statement

I am a sculptor.  This is my passion.  A ball of clay or a crucible of molten bronze.  This is what puts gas in my tank.

I am looking at inspiration differently these days.  I am learning that we can find it in the simplest things: a line, a shape, a color or a thought.

I describe myself as a constructivist.  The Russian constructivists in the early 20th century were interested in moving away from paint on canvas, trying new ways to make art.

Through my work designing exhibit space, fabricating custom trophies or producing books for blind children; I have strengthened my talents and my confidence.

I think Georgia O’Keeffe said it best: “I found I could say things with color and shapes that I couldn’t say any other way - things I had no words for.”

My new challenge is to design new work and figure out how to share it.
