Debra Lott creates oil paintings and drawings that empower women and reflect upon the human experience. Her large-scale paintings are created in richly colored palettes and the alla prima style. Lott’s techniques include naturalism, expressionism, semi-abstraction and figurative distortion.  In 2018, Lott exhibited work in the context of the “#METOO” movement where she revealed pivotal moments when women break free from the culture of sexual harassment. This series of paintings illustrates the beauty, strength and resiliency of women expressing empowerment and perseverance by uniting together.Lott has invited seven Kentucky artists to exhibit alongside her work specializing in the following media: painting, charcoal, photography, pastels and sculpture. In #WomenStrongerTogether both male and female artists will stand together to support women.

SANDRA CHARLES / Painter
“Your Wall and That Question” is the third painting in my series titled “The Wall.”  My series explores the self motivated deterioration of old facades caused by racist and sexist ideologies. This painting addresses the question of change, specifically, who are you now and can you let go of the past.

CHIP NORTON / Photographer
I like to think of imaging as an opportunity to capture an emotional context for your life in a moment and reflect on it. Images are also a way to experiment with technology and blend in imagination to create something unique to that moment in your journey.

My mother was a breast cancer survivor. This sculpture celebrates all the people who are survivors. I wanted the figure to be joyful, not sad, because she survived.

MIKE MCCARTHY /  Sculptor
“You Don’t See All Of Me” is a soapstone sculpture by Mike McCarthy that is representative of the wage gap between men and women. In many studies, women earn roughly $0.82 per dollar earned by their male counterparts. I carved “You Don’t See All Of Me” with part of her face missing to represent that difference. It is my hope that this piece will serve as a reminder of this inequality.

'Echo' is a painted moment of anticipation. A beauty waits listening to echos.

Women's cycles are affected by the tides, coping with gravity and time, setting us up to be connected to nature and to go with the flow, literally. The paintings are portals into the interior workings or women highlighting the differences in each cycle, and each individual.
