Exploring the Multifaceted Nature of Interpretation through Multi-Media and Ceramic Art

Elmer Lopez and Jes Robinson are thrilled to present their collaborative exhibition, "Perceptual Refractions," a captivating exploration of the dynamic relationship between design, interpretation, and viewer perspective. Like a prism takes light and turns it into many distinct colors, a single design under the influence of theme, mood, and perspective can separate into infinite variations. We invite you to join us on a journey that explores the extent of these variations, and through them the power of art.

In essence, "Perceptual Refractions" celebrates the boundless creative possibilities that emerge when a single design interacts with artistic license. Elmer's mastery of various mediums, including painting, drawing, and printmaking, allows for a fluid exploration of form, color, and texture. Jes's ceramic art, with its tactile essence and sculptural intricacies, adds a three-dimensional depth to the exhibition.  Together, our works form a symphony of visual experiences, with pieces acting as thematic explorations on common melodies.

Themes play a vital role in shaping the variations within "Perceptual Refractions." We draw inspiration from diverse sources, ranging from personal narratives to universal concepts. Mood is another dynamic, infusing each design with its own character and energy. Our emotional states serve as a guide, influencing our creative choices and imbuing the art with a range of feelings, from exuberance to introspection, tranquility to unease. Each viewer's background, experiences, and emotions contribute to the creation of new layers of understanding and significance.

The recognition that interpretation is subjective and deeply influenced by the viewer's unique perspective is a core aspect of "Perceptual Refractions". We invite you to explore the art through your own gaze, each core idea refracted by our prism and further by your own lens. Each interpretation contributes to the ongoing narrative of the exhibition, enriching its tapestry of meaning.

By highlighting the ways that one idea can be created and recreated, "Perceptual Refractions" is a literal and figurative testament to the inherent diversity and transformative power of art. With our collaboration, we aim to provoke dialogue about this power through the comparisons and contrasts visible by seeing interpretations of the same ideation side by side.
