Color, light, forms, and textures that are so abundant in nature are the strong connecters that are exhibited in the work of this group of artists. “Natural Connections” will be on display at PYRO Gallery, June 4-27. Opening Reception, Sunday, June 6, 1-4; Gallery Talk, Sunday, June 13, 1-4
PAMELA COUCH is an Indiana artist. Her oil paintings reflect her attraction to the endless colors, shapes, textures, and lighting variations and combinations found in nature. She is a retired art teacher and a member of Pyro Gallery.
BILL & GEAN BOWEN are collaborative ceramic artists that live in Southern Indiana. Their pottery is largely influenced by nature. There is also a strong influence of traditional Native American, Korean, and Greek pottery in their work.
CATHY HILLEGAS is a watercolorist who lives in Floyds Knobs, Indiana. Her paintings have won numerous awards. Cathy looks for subject matter in the natural world; she is particularly drawn to objects or scenes that are filled with light.
RACHEL SINGEL is an Associate Professor at Hite Art Institute, University of Louisville and lives in Louisville. Rachel’s intaglio imagery comes from what she sees in nature, from a hollow in a tree to a break in the clouds, absence is a recurring motif. Her intaglio prints are her response to the intricacies and depth of natural forms.
